I do a Facebook Live broadcast every Thursday evening at 6:12 pm for members of my private ‘Club’ Facebook group. It also goes on to the 612 Podcast, which is published every Friday (you can listen to the first 10 episodes here).
I have recently had a notification that the guidance for patients who have breast implant has been updated regarding the risk of a rare cancer called BIA-ALCL.
Our professional associations have encouraged us to inform our patients about this update, but I wonder how many surgeons have contacted their patients to let them know about it.
Most of us only contact our patients to let them know about appointment reminders and to send them copies of their GP letter.
I think we need to be communicating with them more often, this is good business and it is good medical practice. It was relatively straightforward for me to send out an email to all of the patients on my database who had had breast implants and had enquired about them to let them know about this update.
