HOW TO ADD WHATSAPP TO YOUR WEBSITE

WITH JJ STAIANO

Knowledge is NOT power
Knowledge is POTENTIAL power
ACTION IS POWER

Having a WhatsApp button on my website has been a gamechanger for me.

IT IS EASY AND IT IS FREE

I used to think that I was billy big-time because I had a live chat feature on my website and I made sure all the staff were logged in to it at all times so that we could answer questions and enquiries immediately.

It was really good and I recommended it to others, as long as you have someone who can be available to answer the enquiries promptly, otherwise they just disappear.

Then I went on holiday and wanted to hire a boat.

The website had a WhatsApp button in the bottom corner and I was surprised at how comfortable I felt clicking it to start a conversation with them.

Yes, they had a contact button
and an email address
and a phone number

...but for some reason, it just felt easy to click on the WhatsApp and message them.

When I got home, I looked in to it for my own website and discovered that I could do the same and it would cost me nothing and would save the problem of the enquiries disappearing if we didn't answer them in time.

I was amazed, I cancelled the subscription to the live chat feature and no longer had to constantly be on the alert for a ping when someone asked a question.

A WhatsApp business account is free and you can install it on up to 4 devices as well as your phone, so it is possible for your secretary to hold the phone while having WhatsApp open on the desktop and you can monitor it at home on your computer and you can all see messages and respond to them.

It is possible for patients to send photographs and you will also have the person's phone number if you want to give them a call.

It is great.

SO WHY HAVEN'T YOU GOT ONE?

  • There is no one to answer the enquiries

The beauty of WhatsApp is that you don’t have to answer the enquiry immediately, you can answer it in your own time.

Furthermore, with a WhatsApp business account, you can open your WhatsApp account on up to 4 devices includes tablets and computers, so that you can monitor it yourself and answer the enquiry personally if you are available.

  • I don't really get enquiries through my website, so it is not worth it

Most of our websites are not very appealing and we have unwieldy contact forms that will only be filled in by a patient who has decided they want to book a consultation with you.

If you look at your analytics, you may be surprised at how many people are visiting your website, but just leave because they don’t necessarily want to book an appointment now.

You don’t know what you don’t know.

Don’t assume that there aren’t more people out there who may have a query but don’t really want to fill in a contact form.

WhatsApp is FREE and it costs nothing to put it on your website – I will show you, it will take less than 30 mins, so what have you got to lose?

If no one gets in touch, fair enough, you were right, it was not worth it, you have wasted 30 mins.

    …but you might be surprised!

  • WhatsApp doesn't really fit with my brand as it feels a bit 'cheap'

I agree, I used to think that too.

The point is that you are not necessarily your target market, and your patients are using WhatsApp every day.

It is becoming increasingly widespread and your patients may not think it is ‘cheap’.  The fact is that it is very easy and I think that is more important.

Even though you may have a contact form and a phone number, for some reason, it is easier to just click the little WhatsApp button in the corner of your website.

I don’t know why, but pretty much no one fills in our contact form, yet we get several enquiries through WhatsApp every day.

Try it, the worst that can happen is that you can delete it if you don’t like it.
